Shannon Theobald is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of New Jersey, as well as, an experienced EMDR Therapist and Career Coach at her private practice, Thrively Co. NJ Counseling & Coaching. Shannon’s passion has always been to connect with others in a way that is genuine, meaningful, and ultimately helpful in supporting the growth and management of all that is, life. There is no way to predict what life throws our way (sometimes, lemons), but how we react and navigate determines the quality of life we get to live (hopefully, lemonade). Add in the ability to have healthy relationships along the way (love: self, friends, professional & romantic), and you will be surprised how productive and fulfilled you can become personally and/or professionally—hence the creation of lemonadeandlove.com. Shannon is dedicated to helping others find purpose and meaning in who they are and what they do, and uses a variety of approaches & techniques to facilitate this process, accommodating each client’s needs in an effective tailored way.
Prior to obtaining her LPC, Shannon had a long career at Dale Carnegie successfully coaching & consulting with professionals, at all levels, to provide training solutions that met the strategic development needs of the client—and larger organization(s). Shannon has experience Motivational Speaking and facilitating organizational trainings in soft-skill areas and/or health and wellness topics, including but not limited to: communication, self-confidence, body image, relationships, education on mental health and wellness, stress management, personal/professional branding, interviewing, team building, and related topics. Additionally, Shannon achieved Dale Carnegie’s Core Trainer Certification and completed the following training programs: The Dale Carnegie Course: Effective Communications & Human Relations, Sales Advantage, Presenting Complex Information. Shannon currently offers Career Coaching at her private practice. Please note, Shannon does not offer Dale Carnegie specific training or materials.
As an LPC, Shannon has a wealth of experience working with trauma and adults with chronic psychiatric illnesses, including: Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Personality Disorders, Schizophrenia, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Dual Diagnosis (mental illness + addiction). She is also experienced in working with Developmental Disabilities, Chronic Illness, and Chronic Pain. Though a diagnosis can be helpful in guiding treatment, Shannon believes, first and foremost, that clients are humans first, and treats every client with dignity, compassion, and respect. She is passionate about helping clients break shame-based beliefs and dedicated to providing a safe space for self-exploration, acceptance, and healing to occur. Shannon works with individuals, families, and has a keen interest in couples counseling. Using a relational, yet person-centered approach, she helps families and couples reconnect and build healthier communication and behaviors with each other. Shannon is skilled in helping families cope with loved ones that suffer from chronic mental illness and/or addiction as well.
Shannon takes an interactive, supportive, and empowering approach to both counseling and coaching—but ultimately Shannon believes her clients are the experts on their own life and can decide what they are ready and willing to work on—because life is a series of choices that, in the end, only you can make. If you are considering counseling and/or coaching or want to learn more—Shannon welcomes the opportunity to speak with you and answer any questions you may have.
